The
Shadow Children Series
A
very good book series
based on a society where
families are only allowed
to have two children
because of food
shortages. The gap
between the rich and the
poor widens as the series
progresses as wealthy
families called barons,
live extravagantly while
the rest of the population
is in danger of
starvation. I like
this series much better
than 1984 although
partially because of the
teen protagonists.
